An Earthquake Risk Report allows you to find out how earthquake-resistant the building you live in is and whether it is damaged or risky. The Earthquake Risk Report is understood with the “Earthquake Test” application carried out by experts determined by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization.

It is analyzed whether the buildings are risky or not through fieldwork, examination of samples taken from the building in a laboratory, and modeling by a computer. On the other hand, various rules must be followed to obtain an Earthquake Risk Report. So how to get an Earthquake Risk Report, what kind of examinations are carried out and what are the documents required for the application?

What is Earthquake Risk Assessment?

Earthquake risk analysis helps you understand whether the real estate you live in is resistant to earthquakes and disasters. After this report, you can learn about potential damage to the structure in advance.

According to Law No. 6306, all provisions to be applied in risk analysis are clearly stated. Property owners have the right to take various actions according to this report.

How to Get an Earthquake Risk Report?

In order to obtain a building earthquake risk report, the necessary documents must first be prepared and an application must be made to the relevant places. It is done through the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization, which is affiliated with the province where your house is located, or through private institutions licensed by this institution.

As a result of the studies carried out, a report is prepared and a copy is given to the ministry on your behalf. The other copy is delivered to the person or persons applied.

What Are the Documents Required for the Earthquake Risk Report?

In order to obtain an Earthquake Risk Report, it is legally sufficient for a person from the building to apply to an authorized institution, and there is no need for a joint decision of the property owners. You need the following documents to get an Earthquake Risk Report:

  • Earthquake Risk Report application petition
  • Photocopy of title deed
  • Static project of the building or official letter stating that there is no static project
  • An official document showing the shares of the condominium owners in the building
  •  Photocopy of the applicant’s identity card
  • Property tax declaration to be received from the municipality
  • Residential Address Verification Letter
  • All previous technical reports
  • If the person applying for the risk report is a company, the company tax certificate, photocopy of the identity card of the company official, signature circular
  • If the applicant is a representative, power of attorney and a photocopy of the representative’s identity card

How Is Risky Building Detection Done?

Risky buildings are determined through technical studies. The result of the ground survey report, which measures the strength of the ground on which the building is located, is one of the main issues that give an idea about whether the building is a risky structure. At the same time, many factors such as the analysis of columns, concrete, and beams, stirrup frequency, the amount of iron, and robustness reports are critical in determining risky structures.
